Introduction

Little Chalfont Parish Council held its inaugural meeting on the on 15th May 2007. This was the result of a considerable amount of preparation and negotiations culminating in local elections held on 3rd May 2007. The Parish was formed from Amersham Town and Chalfont St. Giles and is responsible for over six thousand residents.

Why have a separate Parish?

For many years local Councillors and residents have identified the need to have a local Parish Council dedicated to the needs of Little Chalfont. It was evident that there were areas, for example the village hall, where work had become critical. Also, for matters related to planning applications, Councillors living locally could provide a more accurate and balanced view. Voluntary societies such as the Little Chalfont Village Society and the Re-vitalisation Group were providing (and continue to provide) excellent support, but Little Chalfont Parish Council, as an official body in Local Government, can provide support on a formal basis.
